Everything you are asked to believe

The six tenets are the whole of what Anam asks you to hold. They are written plainly, for anyone, on the page before this one, and there is no hidden seventh waiting to surprise you.

This matters to us. A faith that keeps its real demands secret — that shows you a gentle face and reveals the price only once you are committed — is not being humble. It is being careful with you in the wrong way. So we put the demands first, in the open: wait, be faithful, revere what is living, keep a good home, respect every other path, and lead by living rather than preaching. If any of that is too much, you have lost nothing by reading it for free.

And what is not for passers-by

Anam also has its deeper practices — the small, settled rhythms by which two people who have chosen the path actually walk it together. These are not secret in the way a society keeps secrets. They are simply private, the way the inside of a marriage is private.

They are not written for passers-by, and they are not posted on a page like this. They are shared gently, and in their own time, with those who choose the path in earnest and give themselves to it — and most of all between two souls who have bound their lives to one another. A thing held sacred is not laid out for browsing. It is given, in full, to those who come to it sincerely; and until then it keeps.

So if you are reading this hoping for a hidden teaching, there is none to hand you here, and we would think less of ourselves for printing one. What lies further along the path is met by walking it, not by reading about it.
